Many of us first became RE agents because of the unlimited income potential.
Looking from the outside in, we think being an agent means making a lot of money.
And it can.
But, if you want to be a successful agent who is making a lot of money, the money can’t be your focus.
It sounds counterintuitive, but it’s true.
You can’t put selling a house, your commission check, or your need to pay bills above helping your clients.
The very first Agent Grad School student, Amy, gets this, so I asked her to come on the podcast and talk about how it was possible NOT to think about the money, especially when she was not making any of it and had bills to pay.
She has been helping people buy and sell since 2005. There were some rough years financially. She became my first student in 2010 and in 2019 she was selected as one of America’s Top 100 agents in the US.
She’ll be the first to tell you–it was only after focusing on truly helping her clients, providing value and focusing on the work, not herself, that the money and top producer awards came.
She is living proof of that Zig Ziglar quote:
“You can have everything in life you want if you will just help enough other people get what they want.”
It’s when we focus on our clients instead of our paycheck, that we’ll make more money than we could ever imagine.
