I thought there was something wrong with me.
My first few years as a real estate agent, I felt like I had tried everything. I poured my blood, sweat and tears into my real estate career and yet I had not clients to show for it.
I thought I should be further along. I didn’t realize how hard this was going to be and I didn’t have any money to spend on online leads or anything else for that matter.
It was one of the lowest moments of my life, a feeling that I will never forget. I felt completely deflated and like a failure. I almost gave up.
I sometimes wonder where I’d be today if I hadn’t kept going. It would not have been good.
What I didn’t realize until YEARS later was my thoughts were making my road to success much more difficult than it needed to be.
There were 6 thoughts in particular that were keeping me stuck back then:
- I’m a real estate agent
- I sell houses
- This should be easier
- I should be further along by now
- I’ve tried everything
- I don’t have enough money to ___________.
All of these thoughts seemed true to me. They seemed like facts. Anyone looking into my life at the time would have said, “You are right about all these things!”
You might also have had these thoughts and they may seem true to you too.
But, little did I know they were keeping me stuck, keeping me comfortable, keeping me small and keeping me broke.
